Pentabus workshop with Dux
Every Monday, Class 3 has been very lucky to take part in a drama workshop with Dux. Some of you may have met Dux at the Michaelmas fair with UBI!
Dux has been leading drama sessions which encourage the children to think creatively, using vocabulary in new and fun ways. The children play many games, encouraging them to use words and sometimes create their own! They have also been introduced to lots of Dux’s friends like the BFG and Cookie monster, who also challenge the children to explore words.
In the main parts of the sessions, we are focusing on the story of the Egyptian Cinderella. Recreating the story in new and fun ways which we hope to share with you in the coming weeks.
Egyptian sunsets and jewellery
Over the past couple of weeks, Class 3 have been immersing themselves in the Egyptian topic. They designed and created their own version of an Egyptian necklace using materials they could find in the classroom. The children used images of real Egyptian necklaces as inspiration, thinking about animals they could include.
The children also considered the colours of a sunset, to recreate a sunset scene in Egypt. They focused on moving their brushes in long, sweeping motions to mimic that of a sunset. They used black paper to create the silhouettes of landmarks in Egypt.
Look at Class 3 go!
Class 3 took part in a cross-country event at Carding Mill Valley yesterday, competing against many other schools from the area. Not only did our children showcase their physical strengths they also showed their great school spirit, cheering everybody on!
They were very grateful that the weather played along and only started raining when the children began to get on the bus!
Today, Class 3 took part in a martial arts workshop. They were introduced to the origin and philosophy of martial arts, looking at the different styles and where they came from.
The children had a go at different poses and learnt a few different disciplines. A key focus was control! They worked in pairs showcasing great teamwork and had a wonderful time!
September and looking into October
We have almost come to the end of September, and it was a great full month of learning and experiences in school.
Each class has begun their topics with Class One focus of In The Forest, Class Two focus of Light & Dark, Class Three The Egyptians and Class Four Britain at War WW2.
To enrich the curriculum Forest school has begun, and Class Two and Three have taken part in cross country running at Carding Mill Valley, with Class four attending next week.
Class Three are halfway through their 6-week drama project linked to their writing topic the Egyptian Cinderella with Pentabus Theatre Group from Ludlow.
You may have seen our crisp packet fish on the front lawn which will soon be returning to The Ironworks Centre and the packets will be turned into foil blankets.
Today is a busy afternoon with mixed martial arts workshops in the hall for Class Three & Four and Dr Roger Morgan in Class four leading a Pupil’s to parliament session, where the children give their views on a subject with is taken to the children’s parliament.
We had great uptake at Mrs Lampitt’s phonics parent workshop on 20th September. This workshop is the first of many planned in the Autumn and Spring Term for all classes.
Parent Workshops
We believe that the best outcomes come from great partnerships. We want to work with you to support in your child’s education at school and home.
This year we will be hosting a range of parent workshops, giving you an opportunity to learn about approaches we take in school and ways in which you can support your child in their learning at home.
Workshop formats will vary: an element of the workshop with your child or the whole workshop alongside your child. We will update you with the date of your classes Autumn workshop.
