Dear Parents,
This week I will be Belgium as part of a ‘School Sustainability Project’. Please rest assured that the class is in good hands with Mr Mike Woods and plans have been left in place.
Class 4 will be developing their research and design skills through two different projects: building a ‘Viking longboat’ and research ‘Earth and Beyond’ (Space Presenter, Brian Cox may have some competition.)
The class will also be covering the all important maths facts and grammar too. Class 4 are currently trialling two websites to promote fluency in these curriculum areas which are: · ‘Times table Rockstars’ www.ttrockstars.com
· As well as a grammar tool which can be accessed through www.spag.com.
The class have already received passwords for TT Rockstar and this is up and running. Each child will have a times table that I have set which can be accessed in the ’garage and arena’ sections. For any children that have difficulties accessing ‘Times table Rockstars’ at home, there will be time set aside at school to get up to speed.
With regard to English homework, each week I will be setting an online grammar task. A paper copy will be given to take home and complete for anyone with difficulties accessing from home. This homework will be set on a Monday. The first task will include have a range of grammar questions that will help me to assess strengths and weaknesses.
It is hoped that these tools will complement class work in these areas and be valuable for the children’s learning.
