Today we went to Hay Festival.
Wearing the red hats they had made in the pre visit workshop, the children visited the Make and Take Tent. They sprayed canvas bags with paint, drew in their sketch books, cut out shapes to explore on light boxes and created patterns on the chalk table.
In the afternoon the children went into the Creative Hub for a workshop with two authors. First, Sophy Henn read her story “I hate everything” and demonstrated to the children how to draw the ghost characters.
Then, we listened to Joseph Coelho read two of his books, “Luna loves library day” and “Luna loves gardening”. The children were encouraged to join in with actions and suggest their own story ideas.
It was a really lovely day and the children had a fantastic time. They were even given a signed copy of one of the books. We are looking forward to the post visit workshop with creative arts practitioners Sarah and Molly in July.
