Welcome to Class Three, a mixed year three and four class. Mrs Jefferis is the teacher, supported by Mrs Wyatt and Mrs Wall.
Our classroom, just like our school, is full of adventure, enjoyment, experiences and laughter. Class 3 like to work hard to achieve success, through learning new skills, developing positive social and emotional attitudes and academic accomplishment.
This Autumn, our topic is ‘Grand Designers’. The children will be learning all about the Ancient Egyptians, being fully immersed in the topic through history, art, dance and drama. In science, the children will be looking at states of matter, exploring how materials are made up of particles and how they can change states of matter.
Below is information which you will hopefully find helpful.
PE
Children will have PE on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon. The children will need to come in wearing their PE kit consisting of shorts, t-shirt, trainers and in the winter, a track suit top and jogging trousers.
Forest School – We will be taking part in Forest School once every half term. The children will visit Walcott Hall. Please ensure that children have appropriate clothing for the weather e.g. a waterproof coat, wellies, hat and gloves or sunhat and sun-cream.
Reading Books – The children will be bringing their reading books and reading journal home. Your child is expected to read 5 times a week. After reading please either comment yourself or prompt your child to record a comment in their journal, about what they have just read. This could be a prediction, a view, or a question. It is important for your child’s reading progress for them to read regularly at home as well as in school. Children are responsible for changing their own reading books, although they will be prompted by staff to do this. Please ensure that your child brings their reading book and reading journal into school every day.
Homework – This will consist of reading, spelling, maths and potentially another learning task which will vary in its topic. Homework will be set every week, although the focus will alternate. Homework will be set on a Friday, to be returned on a Wednesday. Spelling tests will take place every Friday morning.
Times Tables – Times tables knowledge and recall are essential in Maths. Children in Year 4 are expected to know ALL their times tables by the end of Year 4. The earlier the children start practising, the easier it will be.
Each child has a login for TTRockstars, where they can practice their times tables.

Water bottle-The children will need a water bottle every day. We are a healthy school, so only water please.
Our learning – Please visit our class page for regular updates on what we have been learning about in class.
Thank you for your support, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
