Have fun in the snow
In Class One, we have been busy with lots of Christmas activities. The role play area was transformed into a stable, with the children retelling the nativity story. The children looked at nativity images from around the world, reflected upon what puzzled them and then created their own stable using loose parts.
This week, Class One really enjoyed taking part in Santa skills at Bishops Castle.
Today, Class One watched a fantastic, sensory, interactive theatre performance within a giant, inflatable igloo.
It was our last week at Forest school for this term, so the children chose their favourite places to explore. Some children played on the pirate ship, setting off on adventures to find hidden treasure, some children created nests using natural materials, some children enjoyed climbing up the bank, working together and helping others, some children built dens and some children enjoyed sliding down the very muddy slope. What fun!
Class One had great fun this week when the Class Four Bronze Sport Ambassadors led a PE session. They taught simple whole class games and also group activities which focused on practising lots of different skills including balancing and throwing. The Ambassadors gave the children lots of praise, encouragement and even challenged them by changing the equipment. The children really enjoyed the session and at the end, everyone had a super sticker.
At Forest School we went on a conker hunt. We worked together and collected a huge bag full. It was so heavy, we had to think of ways to carry it to the bus! In school, we have been having lots of conker fun. The children have been smashing spiky shells with hammers to find conkers, using tweezers to place conkers on a tray, making conker patterns, exploring capacity by filling and emptying containers and creating beautiful artwork by rolling conkers in paint.
We have only been back at school a few days and already, the new Reception children have been so busy engaging in the outdoor area. What fun!
